Rihanna Appointed New Creative Director for Puma

2014 has been an incredible year for pop star Rihanna who is known equally for her singing as she is for her daring and ambitious fashion choices. Puma has commissioned the 26-year-old, who was recently heralded the Fashion Icon of the year award from the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), as its creative director. The German Sportswear Company is banking on Rihanna’s popularity among the age group of 14-25 year-olds, WWD reports. With Rihanna’s 14.1 million followers on Instagram and 38.3 million followers on Twitter, even Tom Ford recognizes the power she has to clue her fans in on what's cool. Rihanna will also be the face of the brand’s fall 2015 ad campaigns. It has not been said yet whether she and Solange-who is the art director and a creative consultant for Puma will collaborate directly on specific projects. Making these fashion powerhouses the forces to which Puma’s turnaround is hinged, is a choice that is epic and could not be more perfectly strategized.
