Hairy Situation

Supermodel Kate Moss rocks a jacket made completely of hair by Maison Martin Margiela on V magazine's September 2009 issue of their first swimwear edition.

Avant garde to say the least, the uber low profile fashion designer has reportedly left the fashion world behide to enjoy his life outside of the microscopic lenses of fashion insiders. America's Next Top Model (ANTM) took notice of the design house's nonconventional garments helping to make Maison Martin Margiela a household name.

Other designers showcased their experimental workmanship.

 And of course...Gaga!

"Human hair is beautiful to wear and it's so interesting to work with. People just need to get over the fact they are wearing something from their body. They seem to think it is still living and that freaks them out. In 10 years we'll all be wearing clothes made of human hair. We just need to get our heads round the fact." - Charlie Le Mindu, BBC News (June 2010)

To: Grace, with love

Rihanna and Lady Gaga are no strangers to pushing the limits of fashion and performance art; however, like my mother always says, "there's nothing new under the sun." Perhaps an inadvertent attempt at replication, nevertheless...they pay homage. It's no secret that Grace Jones isn't exactly happy about the comparison. She's reportedly turned down collaboration opportunities with Gaga siting Gaga's unoriginality. In an extremely unsuccessful effort to redeem herself in  the eyes of the Jamaican-American, singer, model, and actress, Gaga is quoted as having referred to Grace as her, "Jesus." I guess imitation isn't always the greatest form of flattery-and comparing the former Andy Warhol muse to the Messiah was a pure stroke of idiocy.

P.S.

Isn't there something to be said about Beyonce's alter-ego, Sasha Fierce as well. One can't argue the similarities to Grace.

Sincerely,

Enough Said
