Mo'ne Davis: Throwing Like a Girl

Mo'ne Davis in the November 2014 issue of Teen Vogue.

Thirteen-year-old Little League pitcher Mo’ne Davis has had an incredible year and it is not over yet. This Thanksgiving she will lead her team, the Taney Dragons from Philly, in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Davis and the Taney Dragons will kick-off the annual Thanksgiving celebration in New York City.

If you have been living under a rock and do not know who Mo’ne Davis is, here is why you should care. Mo’ne is the breakout Little League star with a 70 mph pitch that helped to catapult her team into the nation’s spotlight and the Little League World Series. She is the only girl in a sport dominated by boys, but somehow managed to strike out opponent after opponent. Davis is also the first little league player to make the cover of Sports Illustrated.  If all that were not enough, Davis' performance in the Little League World Series has earned her a place in baseball's Hall of Fame. She plans to donate the jersey she wore when she pitched a two-hit shutout, becoming the first girl to win a game in the Little League World Series.

The hashtag #throwlikeagirl has taken over a whole new meaning on social media. Throwing like a girl will never be an insult again, except if you are rapper 50 Cent.
